Land Donations

Leave a Legacy by Donating Your Property

Preservation and the protection of natural resources are at the heart of Medina County Park District’s mission. Several popular areas—including Alderfer-Chatfield Wildlife Sanctuary (home of Oenslager Nature Center), Allardale, Carolyn Ludwig Mugrage Park, and Schleman Nature Preserve, to name a few—exist because of the generosity of landowners.

If you or your family would consider a donation of resource-rich land, property adjacent to existing county parkland, or a sizeable parcel that would make a great public park, please contact Medina County Park District Director Nathan D. Eppink at 330-722-9364 or parks@medinacountyparks.com.

Chandler Farm

Chandler Nature Preserve

This multi-generational family farm on the edge of the city of Medina was pledged to Medina County Park District by Ted and Willette Chandler in 2001. Its 105 acres along the West Branch of the Rocky River are home to massive red oaks, stately black walnut trees, a grove of pawpaws, wetland habitats, and a variety of birds. Honoring the wishes of the Chandler family, the land will remain in its natural state to protect the plants and wildlife living there.  While Chandler Nature Preserve is not yet open to the public, its natural treasures will be preserved for others to appreciate in perpetuity because of the generosity of the Chandlers and their family.
